"The Magic were ecstatic. They were going to the finals." To basketball player going to the finals is the greatest thing ever. It's shows them they are the best at what they do. The finals must be so exciting because everyone who pays attention to basketball is watching you and knows your team is the best. One day I would love to be in a big championship game like that.

"From the opening tip off he dominated both ends of the court." This quote tells me that he has been dominant for middle school and so on. It is because he worked very hard and never let go of his dream. This makes me feel inspired to be the best at everything I do.

"Shaquille was determined that before long they'd look up to him because he is a leader." This shows me that he had a lot of determination to make him become a good basketball player. He has always wanted to be better. He has accomplished his goal by being looked up to not just as his height but also as a leader.

"Beleive it or not success did not come easily to Shaquille O'Neil." This is a great quote because it tells me that no one is fully born talented. Everyone works to be where they are today. He had to work very hard because being an amazing basketball player takes skill.

"Unfortunately, there was little time for celebrating." I understand this quote. The last thing that the astronauts want to do is go to quarantine. There is also a chance that they brought back some terrible diseases and bacteria to earth. They were isolated for 21 days while being checked. That is a lot more time away from their friends and families.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." This is the most important quote of the book. This is when he is first stepping on the moon. This means that it was small for 1 man but a huge jump and leap for all of mankind because this has never been done before.

"But Neil Armstrong may have been the only astronaut candidate to have his selection on a game show!" This quote shows me that everyone loved Neil Armstrong even though he was not chosen yet. America liked him and America was excited so they kind of helped NASA with their choice of astronaut.

"Neil's first airplane ride was on a ford Tri-motor." This quote shows me that this sparked his interest for air travel. This was a big part of his life and he really enjoyed it. I wonder what he thought after his flight because he might have been thinking that this is awesome and I want to do this forever. That would be amazing.

"By the age of 8, Neil was building model airplanes out of paper and balsa wood." This quote shows me that his love for air travel started at a very young age. Even though this was an airplane it was still a new type of traveling as was the space ship. It is very surprising and interesting to me how a very young kid can be interested in his future job.

"Neil was born at the beginning to the Great Depression." this quote shows me how he took some light out of a bad situation and stuck with his dream. Many people were jobless and had no money and food but he was fortunate. This quote shows me to always try to accomplish my dreams.

"Long before he rode a rocket to the moon, Neil Armstrong was a young boy growing up in rural Ohio." This quote shows me that regular people can do extraordinary things. It shows me that nothing is impossible for a regular person. Anything can be done if I just set my mind to it and that goes for other people too.

“You want to feel confident the guy you’re working with is someone you can rely on—after all, you are literally trusting him with your life.” This is an important quote because you are your wing mans protector. If he dies you screwed up. If you are not confident in the person then why trust him with your life when crazy people can kill you.

“Anyone who wanted peace—anyone with any sense—left as soon as they could, or ended up dead.” People who wanted peace would leave but the people who hated America would stay and would try to kill any soldier in their way. The city was supposed to be evacuated so if you were still in the Banghdad then they were considered enemies. The SEALs and Marines would kill anyone left.

“At the same time, I was angry he was leaving and terrified he wouldn’t make it back." This quote shows me that it would be very hard to be a soldiers wife or husband. It would be terrifying to not know if they were alive or not. They would probably try to convince them to stay because it is very hard to see them leave maybe forever.

“Both of our families were in town for the birth. We were all very happy, and yet, at the same time, we knew Chris would be leaving soon for Iraq. That part sucked.” This quote shows me that it is tough being a military wife. They would have to make memories by themselves and that would be tough. Also you would be the only one helping the baby in every situation.

“I learned the basics of a range of weapons, so I was prepared not only to use them all, but also to choose the right one for the job.” This quote shows me that there is a lot of thought put into what goes on before combat including guns. Also it shows me how he has to be comfortable with many guns. I think this would take a lot of time and skill to master every sniper to make it your job.

“We were going to die. Or worse, we’d be captured and made prisoners. I thought about my family and how horrible that would all be. I determined I was dying first.” This quote shows me that they would rather die then be captured. In order to die they really have to get out of their covered positions and shoot to kill more people. It turns out the Marines met them there and killed everyone.

“If 100 percent success, 0 casualties are your goal, you’re going to conduct very few operations. You will never take any risks, realistic or otherwise.” This quote shows me that people in the SEALs are expecting some casualties. They know it's bound to happen. If you don't take any risks then you will most likely not do great in battle. This shocks me because I would think they want to come out flawless.

“Every night someone on the other side of the river would stand up and take a shot at us. We would dutifully call it in and ask for permission to return fire. The answer was always a very distinct, “NO!” Very loud and clear." This quote shows me that wherever soldiers are people want to kill them. If someone were shooting at me I would either shoot back or run. That is not a choice for them.

“Our job was to look for suicide boats and mine layers that might be coming down the river to the Gulf." This quote shows me that the world is a crazy place where anything can happen. There can be a bomb anywhere you go as a soldier. That's why there are people hired to patrol the area and find things like this. The fact that they have to look for this means that being a SEAL is a very dangerous job.

“Something went splat a few yards from us. The Iraqis had fired a mortar round from the rear bed. It sank harmlessly into the oily mud. “Thank God that thing didn’t blow up,” somebody said. “We’d be dead." This is when the battle is over and they are searching the area. As this is happening a bomb is thrown at them but harmlessly goes in the sand. This quote shows me that at any moment anything can change in war

"I was covered with dust. God knows what my lungs looked like." This quote is when the SEALs are looking for scud bombs in bags of cement and are checking like 1000 bags each. This quote shows me that they will go to any extreme to keep themselves safe but more importantly America safe. By doing this they could've got lung disease or severely injured but they still did it.

"Our mission was quickly changed from taking down the ship to going aboard and securing it."(pg 112) this quote means that in the blink of an eye your mission or your position in battle can change. The SEALs changed operation very quickly. They are trained to be able to switch operations around depending on the scene.

"“Everybody gets water-boarded during training.” I am very interested in this because I just can't imagine how serious the Navy SEALS are. The fact that they all have been waterboarded amazes me how they fight through that. This being done to them does show them a lot of toughness and the ability to survive as a hostage if that were ever the case.

“It makes sense, though, since being a SEAL is more about mental toughness than physical prowess.”(pg78) This quote is about being a SEAL is not fully even about if you are strong or not. If you have mental toughness you can do anything and the strengths will come. If you are strong that doesn't always mean you have mental toughness.

"You're not allowed to have tobacco as a candidate in BUD/S. I thought no one would see... He opened the can and put it out in front of me. 'Eat it."(pg58) This quote is showing me how serious SEALS are and the restrictions they have. If he was dipping he would have to eat the whole can. That is disgusting and I could never even think of doing that.

"Getting my body into shape. It happened that I saw a bunch of real SEALs on the base, and they inspired me to work out." This quote is saying that being a SEAL is no gimme. You have to work hard and be very dedicated. Chris Kyle said the SEALs he saw inspired him to do things he wouldn't usually do like running and working out. If he didn't get in better shape there would've been no chance he was a SEAL.
