This book took over a month to read, which is more than twice the time a normal fiction book should take me to read. It is long, but also interesting. I think Mary is portrayed realistically. She has faults and virtues just like anyone else. I'm reading this as part of my goal to read a book (usually non-fiction) about every First Lady.

I am a little disappointed that this books starts well after Marie's husband has died. I thought there would be more of her early life in this book but it assumes the reader knows it already. It has great info on Marie's later life and the lives of her daughters.

Good biography of Josephine Baker. Unfortunate choice for a book cover.

A must read for anyone interested in WWII, Nazi Berlin or Hitler.
