The best part of this book is it takes place in 1803 after the brief peace between UK & France ended, & it reminded me of Patrick O'brian's book POST CAPTAIN. In that book, happening in the same time period, Jack & Stephen are stuck in France trying to get out before getting arrested. Stephen puts Jack in a real bear skin suit, pretending to be a dancing bear named Flora. They travel 350 mi to the Spain border
