This is a collection of Clarkson’s musings from his newspaper column about life running his farm in the Cotswolds. It’s basically an in print version of season 1 of Clarkson’s farm. The book is narrated by Clarkson, too, and thing is, as I listen to him telling his stories, I can picture him in a flat cap and wellies, sitting on the step of his tractor with a flask of tea recounting the tales to a passer by.

This was most definitely over-hyped. It was average at best. The ending wasn’t terrible, but it was far from great

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge just how fantastic a narrator Richard Armitage is? This is the second book I’ve listened to in recent weeks that he’s narrated or co-narrated and he has honestly made the books and the characters come to life.

I’m not the biggest fan of Lisa Jewell - I find her books start really well but then get tedious towards the last third. And this is no exception. But the narration - that is something else. All the narrators are doing a great job, but Richard Armitage is doing an excellent job of making an already bad guy absolutely loathsome.

I’m totally not invested in this. I don’t like any of the characters and, honestly, I’m not sure I actually care what happened to Holly or whether Clare finds her or not. This is probably going to end up on my DNF pile
