Jennifer Nelson is on page 50 of 384 of Red Queen (Antonia Scott, #1)
Struggling here...Not a fan of short, choppy sentences unless it's James Ellroy.

Just about to read what was apparently a great speech...but it's in French, with no translation. This is a pet peeve. It's like the author/book is laughing at me for being such a hideous moron that I don't even speak French.

I totally forgot how much this comic makes me laugh. Trying to go a bit slowly so it lasts for longer than the other volumes did.

As is usual with this series, I can't put it down, but it's bittersweet, as I know that after this is the last book. I want to read, but I don't want to finish.

Jennifer Nelson is on page 99 of 341 of Lucky Luciano: The Man Who Organized Crime in America
I'm 99% certain I'd be enjoying this a whole lot more if it was actually about Lucky Luciano. I would estimate about 15% has been devoted to the "subject" of the book so far.

Jennifer Nelson is on page 143 of 559 of Little Man: Meyer Lansky and the Gangster Life
Well, it's entertaining, but I might get a few cavities before I finish. The author is going to ridiculous lengths to assure us, repeatedly, what a great, upstanding fellow Lansky was. It's like his defense lawyer wrote it. Apparently only Luciano was involved with drugs or prostitution, as these were deeply offensive to Saint Lansky.

Jennifer Nelson is on page 293 of 384 of Snow in August
Whenever I'm reading Pete Hamill I can't bear to stop, but at the same time I hate the thought that the book will actually end and I'll be dragged back out of a childhood that gets further away each year, and into real life. How can something be so wonderful and so exquisitely depressing at the same time. Maybe it's just my lifelong nostalgia problem.

Jennifer Nelson is on page 110 of 224 of The Mistresses of Henry VIII
More historical inaccuracies. "Henry VIII's grandmother, Margaret Beaufort, had been thirteen when she gave birth, shortly after her fourteen - year-old husband's death." Edmund Tudor was 26, not 14. And if her first marriage is being referenced, he was no longer her husband.

Who proof-read this?! Only on page 6, and the beginning of the hundred years war is being explained as Edward II claiming the French crown through his mother, Isabella. No, that would be Edward III, the son of Isabella and Edward II. It's a history book, get it right!

Jennifer Nelson is on page 103 of 247 of Miss Lonelyhearts / The Day of the Locust
Only those who still have hope can benefit from tears. When they finish, they feel better. But to those without hope, like Homer, whose anguish is basic and permanent, no good comes from crying. Nothing changes for them. They usually know this, but still can't help crying.
