Whenever I'm reading Pete Hamill I can't bear to stop, but at the same time I hate the thought that the book will actually end and I'll be dragged back out of a childhood that gets further away each year, and into real life. How can something be so wonderful and so exquisitely depressing at the same time. Maybe it's just my lifelong nostalgia problem.
