oh my GOD. that actually gave me chills. wow. I LOVE when I get jump scares from books. it just shows how skilled an author really is

I already LOVE this. I watched the trailer for "Other Mommy"which is based on this book (I didn't know until I read the comments lol) and have heard great things so I decided to try it. I didn't expect to be pulled in so quickly. The narration from the child's point of view is not only a great choice, but the actual writing itself is very representative of how an actual child would think and talk. I'm impressed.

I think I need to take a break from reading this. It's enticing, but as someone who is currently very sick and isolated and in pain and struggling with addiction to prescriptions (not anymore but I was very much like 6 months ago), this is too triggering for me. Paul is quite literally in the exact situation I have been in for the last like 5 years

one thing I will say is I really love the way the author just casually drops the weird lore kind of randomly when other important stuff is happening, and you're just like "wait what? what did you just say?" it reminds me of when (attack on titan spoiler) Reiner and Bertholdt tell Eren they're the Armored and colossal titans super casually and the viewer is like "wait did I just hear that right?"
