These poems become richer to me each time I read them.

Using this for family devotions. Having to trim a little of the “fluff” as we go. I do like Tripp, but he can be a bit wordy.

Reading again this year. I love this advent devotional.

“Be studious for the mortification of thy sins; for this will profit thee more than the knowledge of many hard questions”

I worry that, in my own country, the United States, we speak of freedom without considering what it is. Americans often have in mind the absence of something: occupation, oppression, or even government. An individual is free, we think, when the government is out of the way…But is the removal of something in the world really enough to liberate us? Is it not as important, perhaps even more important, to add things?

Rereading as I go through the shorter version with some friends.

Scarier than Dracula

I’ve read this, but now listening to the audiobook. Narrator is perfect.
