Finishing this book will be an act of masochism. It's miserable.

Quentin is such an entitled piece of garbage. Are we supposed to like him? The way he talks and thinks about women is honestly nasty (describing his teacher as having gropeable breasts, really?????) and delusional. If he's supposed to be a likeable relatable character than dear god does this book suffer from catering to the male gaze... ugh.

"While defending a client on murder charges, he accidentally shot himself dead as he demonstrated to the jury how the murder weapon might have been used."

Lol can you imagine being in that court at the time? And did the client get acquitted or...

I have so many bones to pick. There IS NO WAY. HE CAN MASTER PAC MAN. ON HIS EIGHTH TRY. GET THE FUCK OUT HE IS NOT THAT SPECIAL. There is also no way a lifestyle game such as OASIS would have the level system so simple that Wade can go from level 3 to level 99 in like a month. Don't even start with me this is bullshit. I hate how he can do anything if he just tries because he is just a fucking dude man.

Okay so I was enjoying this but...ever since Part 2 started, Wade has just become a disgusting caricature of a geek. Or unfortunately, just like many real actual people that think like this. Slobbering over Art3mis and confronting her ("Are you sure you're really a girl? No sex change surgery?" wtff you don't ask someone that!??) I literally hate him and I ...wonder if we're meant to? Like is this purposeful?

This book is so poorly written and conceived I can barely deal. I hate this book and I hate myself for having a no-DNF rule so I can have another book on the reading list. UGH. Why the fuck does Matt just /have/ five sets of handcuffs in his bag? NOBODY JUST HAS THAT. And don't tell me that was part of his supplies as if he knew they were going to need them fuck you. I LITERALLY HATE THIS BOOK.

WTF man WTF i hate this fucking book why did you fucking do that to me. like....no. am i supposed to like these characters? because i hate them. i picked up this book because i like foxes and now fucking look. i'm so mad lol i really really do hate this and i'm mad that i have to finish this just for my reading quota. this is garbage fuck garrett i hope he dies

I am way to sensitive to animal death to enjoy this book. I was excited there was a fox character but I don't want to have read about them getting hunted and killed ugh. Whether for utilitarian reasons or not, this isn't my thing. I just want to finish this book and go on to something else because I'm worrying about animals too much.

Oh god sadness. This book was written in 1999: "His dad lived in a style befitting a man whose offices were four floors down from the top of the World Trade Center" :( :(

Okay I'm going to amend what I said earlier since I was in a bad mood at the time. This book is not terrible, it's just not what I was looking for or expected.

I am SO mad at the person who recced this to me claiming it was better than Song of Achilles. This book is terrible and you have disappointed me beyond belief. It's boring and literally fulfilling zero of my expectations. I'm mad that it's even really classified under lgbt because there is literally nothing to hold onto.

This book was recommended to me by two friends who said it was their favorite book. I now see that I absolutely need new friends. This is making me hate myself for having a no-DNF policy. It's not the writing, it's the subject matter, oh my god.

Do you find pet death funny, author? I find it incredibly crude when authors use this as punch line. Combine this with the mention of eating the cat at the beginning "lol you had to eat, right?" and I'm just so turned off. I know I'm ultra sensitive as someone who's cat was killed by someone else, but please, just don't put this in fluffy YA.

I don't ever want to read a sentence like this ever again, especially not from a male character.

I haven't read a book this bad since 50 Shades of Grey. I can't stop rolling my eyes. It's trite, it's unfunny, it's sense of reality is terrible...I just....I'm so mad that I have an anti-DNF policy. I've started highlighting the sentences I hate the most. This is far worse than the movie, I have to look at all these horrible metaphors where the author is trying to be clever. I can't deal.

I already know I'm going to dislike this as much as the movie. I've been aiming to read it for a while and I might as well see it through, but there are just inherent problems in the narration style. I just do not like how smart R is to begin with. The fact that he can think about things like Jackson Pollock and use vocabulary words before he even starts to become alive again doesn't feel right.
