The family visited the couple, yet the wife, Yeong-hye stuck to her kimchi and rice, even though her sister prepared food she likes.

Husband called up wife's family, informed MIL & SIL. They said they would come soon. It's clear they would give the wife a dressing down.

He is sexually deprived. He tried to think of his wife as a different role like a maid. Some nights, after having a meal and some drinks, he would pin his wife down. One of the occasions, he managed to get in.

He raped her & she acts like nothing happened. She's scrawny asf.

Her sex drive is down, saying she's tired & he blamed it on her lack of meat consumption.

Husband had a course meal with his company's bosses, including their wives. Naturally, he brought his wife and he was once again bothered by her not wearing a bra. Conversation steered into vegetarianism.

Husband decided to call his MIL. Wife's name is Yeong-hye, the 2nd daughter. He informed MIL that she stopped eating meat.

Low maintenance marriage - husband works late, wife not a nit-picker, loves reading.

One day at 4am, husband finds wife in the kitchen, said she had a dream. She acted out of the ordinary. Later in the morning, he woke up late, she didn't prepare his clothes etc.

He found her getting rid of all the meat in the house. Again, talking about having had a dream.

Vegetarianism.

Spring time, she's lost a lot of weight.

Epilogue

YJ graduated from high school. He passed by flowers to see Gon, just cause.

The narrative has changed, it is completely new and unpredictable.

"I've decided to confront it. Confront whatever life throws at me, as I always have. And however much I can feel, nothing more, nothing less."

Mom was wheeled in by Dr Shim. She had woken up while YJ was recovering. YJ CRIED

YJ was beat up badly, he was stabbed as an act of defending Gon. As he was held by Gon, he realised he could FEEL.

Later, while recovering, he learnt that Gon stabbed Steel Wire (counted as self defense). Steel Wire was awaited trial and has a long list of criminal activity. Steamed Bun was tracked down too. Dora switched schools with a track team and won. Gon was in therapy.

YJ urged Gon to go back home together with him.

Steel Wire showed a knife and passed it to Gon, YJ was beat up. YJ just kept asking whether that's what Gon wanted because he knows Gon is not like that. He's a softie who tears up at the sight of blood.

Then, Steel Wire asked what would YJ do for Gon, YJ said anything. Steel Wire said "Even if you could die?" Clearly amused, Steel Wire approached YJ.

Steamed Bun wasn't good at giving directions but said Gon would probably be with Steel Wire.

YJ found Gon ragged and he kept telling YJ to leave.

Then, Steel Wire came.

Part 4

The actual culprit spoke up, it was the kid that asked YJ how it felt to watch his family die.

Gon had gone missing and Mr Yun admitted he had horrible thoughts about his own son and if YJ came across Gon, to tell him to come back.

YJ decided he had to find Gon, and apologise. YJ went to find Steamed Bun on Gon's whereabouts. Dora asked why he had to be the one to find him & YJ said Gon is his friend.

End of Part 3

There was a school field trip but YJ didn't go as he had to look after his mom. There was an incident of stolen cash found in Gon's bag and while he had an alibi and said it wasn't him, everyone just blamed him. His father paid off the missing money.

Gon had a rage fit, and Dora confronted him. The teachers came in time but the class was messed and Gon left. Later, he kinda "bid" farewell to YJ.

Gon & Dora frequent the closing down bookstore but somehow, never at the same time.

Gon didn't visit as much as he started hanging out with other people (infamous).

Out of the blue, YJ felt that he wanted to read in between the lines and understand people and things. Dora came in, told her he wants to write about himself even though he doesn't fully understand. They kissed. Gon witnessed.

YJ started experiencing changes, he talked to Dr Shim about it and concluded that he's growing and perhaps has a crush on Dora.

One day, Dora asked if she could come along to visit his mom with him, he said sure. She "talked" to the mom and said he should do the same, and so he did. Then, he realised that maybe it's not as pointless after all, and it's like how Dr Shim bakes for his dead wife.

Mom opened her eyes, and he's planning to close down the bookstore. He donated some assessment prep books to the library where he came across Dora. He asked some questions and eventually, she also visited the bookstore. She frequent the library because it's quiet and not so open as the gym.

We're introduced to Dora Lee. She was in the same school but wasn't there often. She didn't have a care of what went on around her. It's rumoured that she was going to transfer to another school with a track team. She's a runner.

Yunjae & Gon hung out together. YJ realised that it's very easy to understand him, it's just that no one ever really made the effort to see through him.

Gon hadn't visited Yunjae in a while. Yunjae talked about it with Dr Shim. Yunjae's willingness to learn is a great start, and it sounds like Gon wants to be friends, so he eventually deduced that he should visit him.

At his place, Gon admitted he kept visiting for 2 reasons - No judgement + Yunjae has met his mom. He seems to recall her warmth & wanted to know how was she like.

Gon kept buying & returning magazines, even though it's not for rent. Then, one day, he came with a butterfly & said it's for empathy training. Thing is, he was doing slow torture for the butterfly and eventually gave up and just killed it. He wanted Yunjae to express pain like how the butterfly might.

The pizzeria where Gon had acted out from Yunjae's mockery did not bring it to the school. Gon had stopped acting out.

Gon returned a magazine that is considered a classic & bought a new erotic one that's kept all together.

The erotica was proposed by Granny over his mom's proposal of a coffee machine.

Yunjae is curious about Gon as he told Dr Shim. Dr Shim told him that he could have taken himself out of the situation, getting beat up doesn't mean he's brave. Dr Shim was a heart surgeon but no longer does surgeries ever since the death of his wife so he honours her by baking bread.

Gon came to the bookstore & bought a magazine, he said he read about Yunjae. They had a conversation about his family dying.

Gon's history is that he lived with a Chinese couple, a childless couple, and was in youth centres. He mixed with the wrong group and decided to call himself Gon.

After the incinerator incident of Gon beating up Yunjae, he was suspended for a week. His "father" beat him for his actions.

One day, they were seated opposite each other. Yunjae mocked Gon & he went crazy again.

Gon returned to the funeral and "threatened" Yunjae. He "teamed" up with 2 other boys at school. He started bullying Yunjae but would not get a reaction from him at all. He wrote on the board and announced that he and Yunjae would have a showdown near the incinerator.

Yunjae showed up at the place and Gon just kept beating him up. Yunjae just said that he can't give a reaction that Gon wants so he should just stop.

There was a new kid in school named Gon.

Yun Kwonho, who had asked Yunjae to act as their son to his wife received a call a few days prior that they might have found their son. Their son was Gon. Yunjae had met Gon (aka Yun Leesu) in school, and again at the funeral. Gon had become famous for the rumours about his past in school.

He met Mrs Yun, "playing" as their long lost son. She was out with her son and she had to pick up a short call. However, when she tried looking for her son, he was gone.

A few days later, she died, and he went to the funeral. Using a young photo of her, Mr Yun explained that that was the last photo he found of her smiling before their son went missing. Just as he was about to leave, everyone turned and saw a boy.

Yunjae (protagonist) kept seeing a particular man around the hospital. He was Yun Kwonho, a father of a missing child and a husband to a sick wife. He asked Yunjae if he could act as their missing son because they look alike. They found that the son was recently found but Kwonho said he's not in a state to meet his mother.

Yunjae agreed.

He started high school & one day, a schoolmate who's known to talk back to teachers asked him how it was like. Simply put, protagonist said he felt nothing and the news spread like wildfire, all because he doesn't feel much.

One day, he had dinner with Dr Shim & said he'd try to continue schooling. Dr Shim also pointed out that being ordinary is actually very tough.

Dr Shim Jaeyoung left him a note to come upstairs. He owned a bakery and the entire building. He offered to help with finances if needed. He suggested that the protagonist need not worry, he should save money for school & essentials. Dr Shim would even give him food and money to continue working at the bookshop. He mentioned that his mom said to take care of the protagonist.

The protagonist continued schooling.

Part 2 - He visited the hospital daily, and he had to decide whether to have his mom remain in the ICU or to a nursing home. He lived off of Granny's life insurance. A social worker suggested he move to a home.

He lived alone and continued opening the bookshop. He tried to understand what it meant to be normal, especially from the interaction with a lady who realised his family was affected by the massacre.

End of Part 1 - His mom survived but was as good as dead because of brain damage. The victims of the killer held a funeral for 3 days. They found out that the killer was just a normal person. He got retrenched, his family left him, and he fell into debt. He isolated himself for a few years, only leaving to visit the library, reading books on martial arts, self-defense, and wielding a knife. He had the urge to kill.

The 3 of them were out for Christmas Eve, which is also his birthday. After eating, he saw the plum-flavoured sweets he knew Granny & Mom liked and the staff went to get a refill for him. When he took 2 handfuls & was about to head out, a man went on a rampage, killing both his mom & Granny.

He just watched them die from the inside of the restaurant.
