I've been saying how I want to challenge myself more and read new books, take more chances, so I've decided to do Amazon First Reads. I asked on Twitter if there is a catch to it and someone told me the only thing is that I have to make my choice by the end of the month... Which I kind of like cause it forces me to pick something and it will stay in that zone of keeping going and reading new things. #imready

This is messed up. Why are they going after them? It's not fair that the serial killer gets to sit in prison while his family has to suffer for his crimes.

I'm going to cry. Gwen doesn't deserve this.

To an extent, I was right to be wary about Sam.

Okay... I don't know what to think anymore. Keep it going Ms. Caine.

There are things I don't like to see in a story but others do like and vice versa; let's not tear each other down about it. There is something inherently special about the book world (with the escapism feel of it all). A good book can be a safe space for someone. Who cares if they like Twilight? Who cares if they like angst stories without happy endings? ETC, etc. If it makes them happy, support your fellow readers!

Rachel Caine: you're good, really good; just blew my main suspect away. I don't know what to think now.

Another body... I'm still looking to Sam as a suspect. Not completely though, because Rachel Caine is good at not making suspense redundant. But Sam hasn't been seen or mentioned since Gwen told him the truth and that tip goes in shortly after that. Javier could also be on the list, but after thay way he just treated Gwen (plus his honor as a deputy) its doubtful.

Also: if Javier is telling her to keep the Jeep, he should give her back the money she paid him.

What is the matter with people?! Do they not have any sympathy for the fact that Gwen is a victim? All they want to know is how she could marry/be involved with him? Truly ignorant. She's not the probelm, Mel is.

Gwen thinks it was Melvin. I guess thats plausible. But Sam could be a suspect too.

They got an anonymous tip about who Gwen really is... It was Sam, wasn't it? I always felt like he couldn't be 100% trusted.

I'm worried that someone will follow Gwen back to Stillhouse Lake.

That feeling when a book is really good so I'm reading it fast but also want to take my time so it doesn't end.

I'm happy the family has found a sense of calm, but those pages lost the eerie/suspenseful edge that had been pushing it from the beginning. Now I find myself kind of excited because of Mel's letter and Gwen's plans.

Coincidence? Copycat killer? Or something else?

Goodreads... What's the deal with double copies of a book ending up on my shelf? Last few reads have been on my shelf as Currently Reading and Want to Read.

These online trolls are terrible. How can you not separate the family from the killer? Saying those vile things makes you just as much a monster.

Gwen's thoughts of what she'd do to an intruder are disturbing. It's unpredictable what could happen, but maybe try calling 911? instead of resorting to that. Isn't she trying to better than her husband?

I get that Atlanta is coping after a very daunting situation, but she's also being a brat. Not everyone gets to have expensive smartphones; be grateful you have some kind of cell phone at all. I don't want to say she's too young, that she can't understand, but I really don't think she comprehends just what her mom is doing to keep them safe. Maybe if she did she wouldn't be acting out so much.

And.... breathe! I got worried too soon. The family gets to stay together after all.
