I enjoyed it. I didn’t finish because so many books…so little time.

I don’t think I can handle this one at the moment.

Sometimes at bedtime after a full week or a string of difficulty that I must navigate for the sake of others, I crave someone speaking to me in a certain way, someone who feeds my inner light. These books are few and far between. Pema Chodron does this as does Martin Prechtel. If you have a similar craving at bedtime, put it on your night stand. I’m so glad people like Ross Gay are in the world and writing.

Four and a half years ago, I started this book and stopped because it is rich with instructions and exercises. I left off at considering effort in my practice and to this day is something I am exploring in my practice and encouraging my students to do the same.

Today is the first day of the course that formed around this book and is required reading. I look forward to the guidance and deepening my practice.

I’m currently reading this to my daughters because of Pat Benatar’s version of the song “Wuthering Heights” that we love to sing. I forgot about the ghost, and it spooked all three of us because just at the moment the ghost shows, we hear a mysterious chirp on the house. A couple of days later, I found the smoke detector that needed a new battery. After a week long break, we are back to the book at bedtime.

All I want to do is read this book and pretend I’m Achilles.

This is one of the best books I have read in awhile. I can't put it down. Good thing I'm on vacation.
