I was at first thrown by the whole her writing contemporary ("dragon fucking" mentioned in a cat Sebastian book??) but this is soo fun. I want to give Simon, well the non invasive equivalent to a hug.

As always bemoaning the fact that I can't have a day off because a new Cat Sebastian book is out. Just feels unfair.

Switching back and fourth between the audio and the ebook and look, i don't want to be an asshole but the voice acting is too over the top for my tastes. I know it's a hard job (and the narrator is doing great with the narrating bits!) but actually sometimes don't try to do a male voice. Or a male superhero voice. Because it sounds like a caricature.

Rereading this as an early getting ready for the sequel and it's alarming how much my thoughts are in the general direction of "oh she likes her job, I wonder what that feels like".

If I had a nickel for every time I started a horror book featuring a woman becoming a crime scene cleaner after the traumatic death of a loved one this year I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
