I was silent reviewing that inexhaustible matter--the more than inherited (since it was also taught) brutality of the Christian peoples, beside which the mere heathendom of the west coast n****r is clean and restrained.......written in1904 sorry for the language....this quote stuck out...replace the ugly word with whatever we find "heathen/ugly/bad", yet not cruel in nature....against those who ought to be loving....

Christine recommended this to me, and it's been sitting on my Kindle for quite some time. Oh my gosh, i'm loving this little quickie. Perfect for right now, as I'm wanting something a little simple and still spooky while I'm working on a headache. Nice quite, fun little tale. I'm glad I saved it, as it is perfect for right this moment...

Christine recommended this to me, and it's been sitting on my Kindle for quite some time. I figured I surely could get this in. Especially because I was doing a very rare thing (attending church with my parents...it made them so happy). I figured I needed something to read while I was there, LOL. I was able to put one finger in my ear to block out some yelling, ugh! And hold my Kindle with my other hand, Good so far!

So glad Edward let me now at 11;15 that this book is going up a dollar a day. missed the 99cent day but barely grabbed the $1.99!!!! Just read the first one and i was left dangling. Plus trustworthy Thomas told me it's his best book so I'm so excited to dive into this 700 page chiller! I might have to take this one episode by episode if it gets really intense. reading Fog Warning again as well.I missed something big!

"The Woman in the Room". I didn't think I could read it. no, it's not horror unless you live with daily almost intolerable pain. Like someone else on here says-"Hit's too close to home". Well, after my afternoon dose (That's 9 pills) I decided do get it read while I was in the tolerable camp. Mini-triumph for me. Yes, it's sad, but those decisions need to be legal IMO as a sufferer. Hard Topic I know. need to be ther

Wow! This is Fascinating! I can't tear my eyes away for a second!! I really wish this was longer, because I'm approaching the end so very fast and this is just too good I don't want it to end. By far my favorite yet, Plus--so far at least--it's acceptable for those with weak stomachs. We'll see...I should finish it tonight and be very sorry. He can create great characters in such a short time!!!! Worth every penny!

Favorite line so far: It was as if God had draped pallid skin over his skull then called it a day (not sure WHY this struck me, really)....love the description of this officer with no visible fat or muscle under the skin of his face.....PLUS--this has grabbed me already, I can't put it down! Very well written little novella.

Well, just a few left. Since I've been reading them out of order I have to look forward to Trucks, The Lawnmower man, and I know what you need...you may be able to figure out why those three are last....

Oh wow...I'm reading slowly now.... terribly sad for two reasons...first because it's ending and I love it so much I don't want to see that last page. Second because it's horrifically sad. horrific. and. sad--too.I'm going to cherish these last few pages, and, granted, I'm terribly interested to see what happens!!!!! If you've read it before you know what I'm talking about. One character needs to be taken care of!!!!

Well, this has been my worst day in a very long time-both pain and stress (making the pain worse, of course);but this book has never left my hand. The story and writing-engrossing enough to take the edge off, drying up a heap of tears so I could keep reading, then, pretty soon they were gone...I was with the boys. That's what excellent writing and a fascinating story line can do! GET THIS BOOK- it's powerful....:)

wow...and to think...(I think) this was his first book! I've read his 2* review and get it--but the writing is still great, as well as thee story line! so glad I got this one, my second by Edward, so not THAT much to compare it to, but loving it even more than that one....I mean, everyone on here knows he can string words together like nobody's business just by his reviews! READ THIS BOOK :)

As far as I have been able to find out, out of these 20 impressive tales, 9 (possibly 10-it was published the same year) of these stories were published Pre-Carrie in magazines (which hers was another short story for a magazine, which Tabitha wisely pushed him into making it a novel, gotta love her!) And 9 have been made into movies, some for the big-screen, some for the tv. Pretty good for his earliest writing ever!

oh my gosh....the emotions this book brings out--the sweet scene of loving Cujo chasing a rabbit--only to get stuck in the hole and have so unfairly been scratched by that horrible bat! King knows many things...and one of them is how to Write from a dogs perspective. He's done it so many times...as if he can get inside their minds. Then he ceases to exist as himself :(
