I think I'm going to DNF this - although I loved the series and was curious about the source material, it feels that a lot of what I enjoyed in the show was due to the work of the BOC team rather than the authors of the novel. The book just isn't holding my attention enough to get through a version of the story I'll probably like less than the one I already know. I'm glad I gave it a try, though.

After taking a break from this book to finish Qi Ye along with my reading group, I was hoping to get to the end of the story over the Christmas and New Year holidays and add it to my 2022 round-up here, but I haven't managed it. Never mind! The plot threads are all drawing together at the moment, while the action certainly hasn't grown any less exciting. I'm enjoying every page. :)
