Well, I was right to dislike Edward. What a complete dick, sleeping with Judith to ensure her first time isn't traumatic after finding out she was sexually assaulted, then blithely telling her he doesn't love her. He's the one that said he'd been constant and patient with her, as if they were courting, and yet never had any actual interest in her at all. I hope she's not pregnant, I really WILL fight him, then.

I have to say although I still adore this story, I really hope Edward isn't the actual official love interest. He irritated the hell out of me, suddenly kissing Judith without asking for consent (it's the 30s, I get it), then proceeding to grab her chest?? Again, without permission. And then he crawls into her bed at 3AM to explicitly NOT apologise because in his words, he didn't do anything wrong. I'll fight him.

It's far too early to tell, but for now I like it a lot more than September. Has the feel of an old children's classic, very cosy and dense with mundane details of everyday life.
