Excellent read! The heroine trains and owns search and rescue dogs. She is also a survivor, the one that got away, of a serial killer. Now there's a copycat running around, but the copycat is too perfect. He's an apprentice to her imprisoned attacker. The characters are well developed and the plot grips and holds you to the end. It's well written and I love the setting on Orcas Island, off the Washington Coast.

At first, the book seemed very well crafted with largely believable characters. The beginning promised an atmosphere that felt like horror. Yet I found the villain, Frank, to be monotone, all shades of awful. His depth of depravity frankly sickened me and I found myself ready to cry for his victims and their families. That said, I was unable to finish the book.
