This book having sat on my overdrive shelf for six years has not aged well.

🙄 corset are evil but not one quote from a woman. A Doctor said, mistaking political cartoons for factual diagrams.

This book is so long and so not nearly interesting enough for that. I would have perfected it to be broken up. Then I could set it down without my hold running out.

Losing 1 star for repeating the global overpopulation myth. Its consumption, we could have a globe population of 50 thousand and if they all lived like Taylor swift we’d still have a climate and energy crisis

Oooo maternal gift economy about the placenta. I get it’s a metaphor but nope. These a complex web around the human placental genes and fetal between paternal and maternal around investment and how deep the placenta can attach.
In other animals that don’t get periods they can literally re-absorb the fetus and back scavenge nutrients. Wet nurses and modern milk donation would be good examples.
