I'm dropping this. MC is an annoying fool and plot remains random and utterly uninteresting.

The plot feels random and incoherent. Like there is no goal it's moving towards.

Viktor and Reesa are getting married. And I have no idea if they even really love each other or not.

Humans have become open minded and utilitarian enough to have random babies with random people, but religious segregation remains and they don't want to bury corpses with corpses who did not have approved beliefs while alive?

Relationships are so difficult to understand. Everyone bangs each other and have kids to increase the human population, but they -- at least the MC -- appears to care about those miscellaneous kids. However, marriages appear to be 'special' and done for love.

The MC is thinking about marrying someone in-between banging his girlfriends and his childhood obsessive love.

Okay, this story has yet to gain any real traction. I'm just not a fan of the Queens or their method of mystery solving.

The side characters are so unappealing and the mystery is getting so again

So Queen is a 'detective with a heart of gold' and he was pained by one of his suspect's reaction. And the reaction of her fiance made him blush in shame.

Eh...

Very slow and ponderous at first but is beginning to get more exciting

I decided to end the story here. It's actually a good story, but I think I'd like it best if I leave the ending a mystery.

The author's usage of seamless interswitching between Toby talking to people and Owen is an interesting thing. Is it supposed to indicate that, to Toby, Owen is as normal to him as a human?

I did not expect this direction. The author is doing a great job making me sympathize with Toby, his isolation and loneliness, and his deteriorating state of mind.

Well, not worst case scenario but up there. Wondering how the story will go from here.

There just seems so much wrong with introducing your girlfriend to the sasquatch-like monster living in the forest. That you fed two people too.

So much so that probably the most unexpected outcome is for everything to turn out well. In twist, that might be exactly what happens.

I suppose it's the point but I'm not sure if he's really interacting with Owen or if he's insane

Damn. Toby went from cringe loser to killer. This went from 40 to 100 real quick.

I can't believe it but this novel actually gave a persuasive argument for being kind even when it is likely to harm you.

The novel has pretty much become a slice-of-life deal, except with cultivation as a gimmick.

So an ethereal figure appears, laughs, and tries to grab a nearby woman...but it's not a ghost. No, that's ridiculous. Instead, it's actually a person's thought transformed into a living being.

I can't take this book seriously anymore.
