Probably my fault for not knowing what I was getting into, but based on the blurb I was expecting a campy, Sookie Stackhouse vibe and got self-important litfic. This book is an absolute slog and I’m struggling to finish.

DNF. I’m afraid it’s barreling toward the MC’s humiliation and that’s just not my jam.

Ugh, I’m hoping the level of sophistication in the writing improves. Just because it’s YA doesn’t mean it has to sound like a cliche-happy 15 year old wrote it. Plot is fine, but the actual words are not good so far.
