I have become entranced again

Goodreads has messed up so I can't find this book when searching "misery" or "misery stephen king" or even easily find it on Stephen King's goodreads page. Checking with almost any other popular book, I find the same problem (good luck finding pride and prejudice from the search alone). Just happy that I already had this saved on my want-to-read shelf so I could actually update it

Me? Actually understanding everything that's happening in a TLT novel? It shouldn't be possible

The author is making me very uncomfortable

I'm turning off my audiobook of young children dying of a plague that no one understands (How High We Go in the Dark) and exchanging it for my physical book of older children being tricked into fighting in one of the most brutal wars in history and watching their friends die in horrific manners all around them. Living my best spring break life!

I chose this to be my "getting tasks done over spring break" audiobook, and it was not a good choice. The narrators are amazing, and so is the writing style, but like I'm just trying to hang up some fun posters for my room while listening to literally everyone in the world dying of an incurable plague. The characters are all grieving the people they've lost and I'm over here just vacuuming my floor

How is it that I'm only now noticing the theme of child labor throughout the series. Is it all my history classes getting to me? Either way, it proves that I still get something out of every reread.

I guess this is officially my comfort read now. I'm escaping from one messed up world to another.

Finally reading this. It's interesting to read Ruta Sepetys newest release after reading all of her backlog. While this novel continues the precedent that Salt to the Sea set of having four point of view characters alternating between relatively short chapters, this is her first book to be written in third person. Whether or not it's because of this change, her writing seems to have also matured in this novel.

So I just now realized that this audiobook is narrated by the reclusive Donna Tartt, the author of The Secret History and The Goldfinch. It's such a random choice, but, I enjoy her as a narrator, so I don't even know what to think. I'm still in shock.
