Has anyone else read this and liked it?? Is it worth finishing?

Can someone please explain the hype of this series? Does it get better in the second one because im half way through and its just kinda eh..

Although i love the grandmother's view for this story the present day is kinda driving me nuts

This book needs a trigger warning ⚠️ of SA within the church setting it is a very upsetting and disturbing scene described at just about the end of the book. So if anyone one else reads this please be aware if was appalling to read.

This series is HUGE but so far really liking it! Which is a plus since the last few reads haven't been a favorite

Hmm... its ok so far.. not going to pass to much judgement till I get further in.

.... do NOT do the audio book for this novel... the fake southern accent is literally nails on a chalkboard.. especially since the plot on its own so far is subpar...

This book is taking forever to get through... I havent seen the movie yet but I hope its better than the book 😕 this is barely keeping my attention
