Okay in addition to the number goal, I’ve decided I’d like to add some other goals for this year:
- read 12 books (about one per month) from before the 2000s
-try some collections of short stories or poems, different from analyzing novels
-perhaps start a “read around the world” (would be over multiple years) where you choose an author from each country

Just to help diversify my reading!

Finishing this audiobook out of sheer power of will

This book is fascinating and so fun to read, I cannot put it down

Pretty far in and I haven’t cried yet, definitely not as sad as the movie. That’s probably a good thing

Mostly a plot based book, but it makes me want to continue so badly to see what happens next! Very much enjoying and from what I’ve seen, the ending plot twist is insane. I’m excited :)

Very fun, very gay so far

Just finished my 31st book of the year, completing my book goal for the year! It feels so exciting considering I haven’t read much in the past few years because I was always busy with work or school, but I’m glad to be in the swing of it again :D

Started the audiobook on my long drive, not sure how I feel about it yet. Very NASA many science

It’s pissing me off that Clary literally never cared what Simon is up to!!! He was like “you’ll never believe where I was…” and she just passes over it so quick, like girl CARE ABOUT HIM A LITTLE BIT DAMN

EIGHT: COMMUNITY

i really adored this chapter as well. So often, i feel people look over love in friendships and around them, especially in a digital world where we spend more time socializing online than in real life. Friendship love is just as important as romantic love to me, and I’ve always done my best to express that in my relationships.

GREED: SIMPLY LOVE

This chapter is definitely my favorite chapter so far. For a book written in 2000, it’s sort of disheartening to see that what Hooks is writing is directly relatable to today’s society, even though it’s a quarter of a century later. She talks about how materialism has hurt our current culture, even using the term “instant gratification” herself, which I feel I hear everyday. Very sad :(
