Picked this book up because I was standing in front of a display titled “dragons” and the woman behind me said “oh I loved that book!” But I am not getting great vibes. Praying it turns around

Working through this novel and these stories are just so hard to swallow. Very interesting reading a WWII novel talking specifically about what happened in Italy instead of focusing on Germany. Also the way Drndić tells the story is so very creative and heartbreaking :’(

FUCK this fucking book goddamnit

Yeah sooooo this book is my favorite thing so far. I love how Kuang’s writing at this section is historical and talks about the horrors of the British Empire but is still relevant and can be used as a metaphor in today’s society (trying not to give spoilers). Can’t wait to see how this goes 😬

This book is picking up, I’m hoping my book club is leading my in the right direction

Nobody better say anything about my currently reading list I don’t care that it’s too many to read at once!

Getting excited for this book! The footnotes are already giving some great insight and there are so many languages intwined in this book :)

Feeling meh about this but I got to the colonization part so I’d like to see how that unfolds

Loving this book so far! The writing is amazing, Beatty states so many things in a single sentence you have to reread to capture it all. The intro is one of the best openings I’ve ever read.
