I really wanted to like this book. I just didn’t. I got halfway through and decided to call it quits.

Dragged a bit in the middle but overall a decent read

Dnf at 50%. Just didn’t do anything for me. Felt no inclination to keep reading.

3.5 stars. I loved the author’s first novel and was super excited to read this. But I didn’t have the same connection to this that I did her first book. Maybe too many different storylines with this one. Still a well written book.

Dnf at 45%. This just wasn’t for me. I could have kept reading it, but I was engaged with the story. Should stick to my thriller genre. 🙃

I listened to the audiobook while I crafted. It really wasn’t that good, but considering it is a romance set in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, I didn’t have high expectations. 🤣 The main characters are ridiculous. But I was still entertained. So I’ll give it 3 stars for entertainment value, not for literary value! 🤓

Quick read. It kept my attention and was an original story. 👍🏼

Why did everyone else like this book, while I found it a chore to get through? I got to 50%, got sidetracked by an unremarkable thriller, tried to come back to this, and have no desire to finish it. So I’ll just call it quits. 🤷🏻‍♀️. DNF

Oh i really wanted to like this. It just didn’t resonate with me. I couldn’t get into it and had to return it to the library before I finished it.

Oof. Difficult book to review. I found many parts of the book profound, but also was confused through a lot of it. The author has a master’s in poetry, and it is shows - the writing is beautiful. I recommend if you want a truly unique book on what it must feel like to be Black in America.

Not my favorite book by this author, but good enough…..

I got about 75% done with this book & lost interest. Intended to get back to it but never did. C’est la vie.

I liked it up to the halfway point, then felt that it got to be a bit much. So I skipped to the end. 🤣. Didn’t really want to spend hours making myself read it.

I really don’t know what it says about me that I loved this book. It was so weird and twisted and wrong. But I devoured it in 2 evenings. I laughed out loud at both the humor & the horror. It was the most fun I’ve had reading a book in a long time. But I I could see it not appealing to everyone. Pretty bizarre story.

DNF at 50%. I just didn’t find it that interesting. I wasn’t invested in the characters at all. The story felt very dry.

I just didn’t care for this. DNF at page 100.

Didn't finish. Didn't love the writing style. Was ok, but had so many other books calling my name that I opted to just return it to the library......

i'm really trying to like this series. it just doesn't "grab me" like it seems to grab others.
