Heather Dooley is 10% done with Reflections on Meditation: A Guide for Beginners
This book is very simple and direct, with plain language. It is written like a set of finely-crafted instructions. The chapters are super-short and instructional. If you don't like new-age stuff but want to try meditating or try something new, I recommend this book to you.

"That's all we do. The same as those hands painted on the cave wall. Those people so long ago wanted to leave a map, showing where they had come from, showing us where they were. It's what we do, Jonah. We all make maps." ("Literature is equipment for living.")

"You keep saying that, but you're worried." "No, I'm not. I'm just thinking.... I've got an idea but it's hiding. I just have to give it time to come out and be recognized." "If you had an idea," said Romey with somber logic, "You wouldn't have to wait for it to come out and be recognized. You'd have it right there in your brain...."

I don't know what page I was on. I actually LOST this book! I'm sure it will turn up. I have no fewer than three students who can tell me how it ends, so either way, I'm good to go.

This book won me and then lost me and then won me again. Right now, I think it's perfect.
