So far, the basic premise seems to be "if you want to have a 'breakout' novel, you need word-of-mouth; to get more and better word-of-mouth, improve your storytelling." That makes sense: many readers tell everybody they know when they've been mesmerized by a good story—then, the math of networks takes over, and in theory exponential growth occurs. More nodes with more connections, more spread. So far, so good.
