This continues the correspondence trend, and is the second of recent Lake Michigan books! I really enjoyed the journey in this book and loved the character arcs. Sad and poignant and also spot on for how people interpret each other. I really enjoyed this one.

I think we need to talk about how we have 1-3 main audio voice actors for each type and gender of non-white author. For example, I’m not saying I don’t LOVE Eunice Wong, but it feels weird that most Asian women have this voice in my mind now from so any audiobooks.

Whew. That was a beating. I really liked her ideas of reciprocity and her stories. But the book was 30-50% too long and she wrote with very black and white ideas and representations that were tough for me. I did feel like it was like listening to a plant biology and ecology textbook narrated as a bedtime story. That was interesting.

Omg let this be over. I’m just not sure about how to deal with books where you hate all the characters

Running list of political talking points that haven’t changed in 100 years. 1) government programs to support poor and needy people, 2) immigration … we treat women better now, but I’m looking forward to making America great again

This better turn around or I’m done with Sally Rooney forever. The internalized patriarchy is so distracting and annoying. You can’t have penetrative intercourse so you are no longer a worthy woman? Women just want to be used by men? 🙄 And I hate a sad male character who is dealing with grief so we let him be an asshole because he’s sweet inside he’s just dealing with some stuff. I’ll take Liars any day.
