Andromeda Among the Stones: this. is. why. i. read. caitlin. kiernan!!!!
A classic Kiernan story of horrific and gorgeous proportions. This one was particularly fun because it’s hard to follow exactly what’s going on, but who tf cares because the imagery is fabulous.

Kinda never want this horror show to end while at the same time wondering what more could possibly happen

I think i have to DNF this book because ain’t no way im going to be able to get through 464 pages of this insanely bad dialogue

Really not enjoying this so far, but I’m not deep in yet, so there’s still time to change my mind.

I don’t like how heavy-handed the book is with its progressiveness. Trust that your reader already agrees with you and is a progressive too; not everything needs spelled out and ham-fisted.

The writing on a sentence level is very good, though.

“Onion” is such a good example of a story i wish i had wrote 😭

Helping Hands: good beginning, slowish middle, great ending. I’m not sure how I would have improved this slump except maybe you have shortened the story.

Death-Cup: this is more like what i wanted Fossil Figures to be.

Nobody Knows My Name: So suspenseful despite knowing, very early on, how it was all going to end.
Fossil-Figures: I love the concept and the through-line theme of fossils, I just wish I found the story itself more interesting.

Beersheba: An odd little story, one I don't have any major issues with but also didn't connect to much.

Thanksgiving: this story was surprisingly nostalgic, though for what i don’t know. Love the symbolism and the grotesque description. Astounding.
Blind: fine. Did not connect with me.
The Radio Astronomer: absolutely loved this one. Breathtaking. So much awe and horror in a simple pattern

The Corn Maiden: Such a beautiful, shocking, and mesmerizing story. I devoured this.

Miao Dao: Loved this story, how it was very subtly magical realism without being overtly so. Ending was perfection.
Phantomwise: 1972: Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The true horror of life is a man's desire for a girl.

Cardiff, By the Sea: What a phenomenal suspense/psychological literary masterpiece. Gorgeous, thrilling, emotional. Clare is a darling and I loved every minute spent with her.
