I’m finding King’s characterization of Pam very difficult to believe. It’s taking me out of the story.

Sometimes a narrator will mispronounce a word and it’s so distracting it takes you out of the book.

“Ess-chewing” rather than eschewing.

“Hicks was examining the paperbacks Maura had culled from the shelf: Peter Straub, Clive Barker, Joe Hill. ‘These are all horror stories…’” Stephen and Owen mentioning Joe is amazing 😂

Norman Daniels is my nightmare. I’m listening on double speed bc I can’t handle the suspense 😅

The story is good. But women written by a man 😑

Girl manipulated into age gap relationship beginning to learn he’s not what he made himself out to be. Hints of violence and certainly condescension. I predict no happy ending. At least for one of them.

Vampires…we’ll see, expectations being managed

King really has nailed the awful, racist, klan-quoting-the-bible, unbearably hot unlikableness of DFW
