Mimi reminds me of Katherine Hepburn. The narrator is doing a decent job of voicing the character with the exception of a couple that are just coming through weirdly. Agatha Christie vibes.

Ok, this is on hold. Considering adding it to my DNF shelf but my brain won't let me (yes, I'm one of those people). It's just not wired for not finishing a book and I don't understand why because I live in procrastination station! So, it's on hold as I had to return it to Libby for the next person and it wouldn't let me renew anyway - which...fair. That's ok since it was starting to drag or my interest was waning?

Triggers for domestic abuse and child abuse. This is just heartbreaking. Powerful but tragic beginning to Alice's tale. I'm listening via audiobook because apparently there's a Netflix show. Poor Agnes & Alice.

*crickets*...I mean wtf? This story is a hybrid baby of the movies "The Witches of Eastwick" ,"Stand By Me" and "The Ya-Ya Sisterhood". Some parts are cringe-y, some suspish (as in All of the staff) and other select moments are just grody.

Short chapters? Huzzah! Fast paced start with shite going down from the first line of the first chappie. I will caution that if you don't like astrology, specifically horoscopes, then this may give you the "ick". But I'm only on ch. 7 so cross fingers it won't be referenced much more as the story progresses - help me manifest this desire.

Well, Jenny's heard back from British Bakes and has yet to inform Bernie she entered the contest. Her anxiety is through the roof when he informs her they'll be babysitting their grand-niece for a day. Curses! I predict shenanigans in the upcoming chapter unless Jenny acts like she's grown & tells Bernie of her potential opportunity.

Thankfully this picks about 1-1.5 months after the end of Bless Your Heart. Roger Taylor is newly appointed Sheriff & Lenore now runs the Evans Funeral Parlor. Something starts killing people and 1 cow (so far) but doesn't fit the Strigoi MO. Roger goes with ongoing rabid wolf hybrid theory & now an "expert" from the university has been called in to assist in confirming it's actually an animal not a serial killer.

A little sad so far tbh. Jenny Quinn is in her 70s & looking back at her life. All the missed opportunities & experiences...so she's contemplating entering a Baking Contest. Story is set in a little village in England so kind of Great British Bake-Off vibes. She bakes a lot of her generational recipes for practice before officially entering the contest.
