I read this originally 8 years ago. I liked it at the time. Re-reading it, I can't figure out why. I have loved every Laura Lee Guhrke book I've read even on re-read and she's my favorite. However, John is the single worst hero ever written. He is literally clueless, cruel, narcissistic and nasty. He blames his infidelity on Viola, he thinks she should just get over his cheating since it was her fault anyways? UGH.

So far I am not impressed by Harrington. There's way too many references to race and gender here, and they are making me wildly uncomfortable.

The hero is also just an a-hole, who clearly has some strong opinions on women that, again, make me so uncomfortable. I don't hate him all the time but randomly these little shitty opinions will crop up that just make me cringe.

So far, not good. It claims to be extreme, but its not. Theres been one good story so far (Abed) but everything else makes me think of the guys in highschool who thought they were edgy and hardcore but really just come off as cringey and whiny. Ill finish because wrath james white and monica j orourke are two of my favorites and im hoping their stories will be good.
