Going to stop here and put it on the DNF shelf. Just can't get into it. The back and forth between past and present is a bit jarring. I get why to an extent, but it's just too much. I may attack this again another day. Personalities of all involved seems very...dry.

So far liking it ok. The repetitive verbiage is starting to wear. There are some grammatical/editing issues that need to be taken care of.

Author is so lucky that I'm a sucker for men in uniform...

A good read. An opening of ones mind after the realization that best laid plans and ideals aren't always correct.

Lol Sophie broke away from Gideon's embrace - after his proposal and her acceptance thereof - to "...go and murder the cook." Once Gideon had exuberantly kissed Sophie, Bridget had begun to sing of newlyweds dying within days of they're joining, being buried side by side.

I hate when this happens. Author mistakenly put Gideon in place of Gabriel - editor missed the mistake as well. Gabriel and Cecy are in Mr. Sallow's shop. "The satyr bustled into the back, and Gideon busied himself studying the wall." Gideon is in the library at the Institute assisting Magnus with books.

A sense of foreboding. Jem said a sort of goodbye to Tessa. Is Will holding his feelings for Tessa back because of Jem? Will Jem die at the hands of the Dark Sisters? Still loving Tessa's strength.

Giggle moment. Will said he wouldn't be speaking unless Tessa instructed him to. Her evening got better at the idea of it.

I've decided that I am rather annoyed by the Lightwood men of this era. Bless Charlotte for her patience, for she needs much of it.

Had my first giggle. Tessa appears to be loosening up...though she may just be chiding Will. "Goodness," Tessa said to the back of his head. "If you keep seeing Six-Fingered Nigel like this, he'll expect you to declare your intentions." The previous night, Nigel had presented himself - in disguise - to Will as a young girl selling daisies before attempting to rob him by way of pick pocketing.

Thus far have met the Herondale, Branwell, Gray, and Carstair families - or at least the beginnings of them. There has been mention of Ragnor Fell and Magnus Bane, and when I skim the writing, The Lightwood name glows on the page.

Few editing issues. Some comedic relief.

Definitely need an editor. There are missing words and tense issues, some misspellings as well.

Still editing issues. The description of Ava and Luce's home and the surrounding gardens is so fantastic that I would love to see it illustrated.
