I love being reminded why this is my favourite book

I read this a long time ago and just got hyperfixated on re reading it. So here we are.

Yearly re read

An understated page turner. I was rooting for him, but he’s lying to her. Now he’s in too deep. I fear this book might be more predictable than I was hoping.

I appreciate reading in my cozy bed listening to the rain

no notes, enjoying this story line

v. good v. fun v. flirty. She writes with v. (as in very) in her diary, so obviously I will too.

Long sentences, big words. Heard good things about Cusk.

I have no idea where this is going but I’m along for the ride

Not to be materialistic, but I love the bright white thick pages of this book. (I have a different cover than the one it shows here)

Oops started this last night 🫣🫣 don’t usually like to read her books butttt it’s definitely a page turner.

Normalize saying “horsing around”

I don’t enjoy being addressed at “reader”. Joan and Eve or Eve and Joan? It’s revealing these women in relation to men, can they be known without the men who “made them”, apparently not. Maybe that was just the 60/70s but it’s un-refreshing..is that a word I don’t know.
