It's not looking promising. The MC has already described her looks in meticulous detail including her "flaws" of having eyes that are just too big and her untameable hair and also called herself a klutz. Can we just not, YA authors?

I'm torn between really enjoying the central conceit and being REALLY annoyed at how the main character *cough* author, thinks anthropologists work.

Who let these people time travel, though? Like, shouldn't someone be training them better than this?

I don't like the gender binary stuff going on. You know "woman are mysterious" sort of thinking, that divides men and women instead of treating us like part of the same species. I'm not sure this is the book for me. But I'm most of the way through, so I suppose I'll finish it.

Nope not gonna finish. Bored and kinda grossed out.

There have been multiple times in this book when I've had to get up to do a victory lap or an anxiety dance, but I have just reached the part where I leapt from the couch and whispered "ohshitohshitohshit" to myself.

Man, I hope this heroine becomes less of a sadsack soon. So far I don't have much sympathy for her.
