This is reading like Shinji in love with Kaworu in Neon Genesis Evangelion and Hazel in love with Ansel Elgort in The Fault in Our Stars. It feels like “I kissed Shara wheeler” in that you can totally tell this isn’t a YA writer but the author just fucking Loves Rome. I hope I end up falling more in love with this book as I keep reading.

How have I gotten more than a quarter of the way into "A Little Life" and it feels like nothing has happened yet...this is why I hesitate to pick up lit fic

The pacing of this book is a bit odd? They were just talking about Friendsgiving and how Christmas is so far away and now we’re at Christmas. I guess they talked about all of the bookings and clients around the holidays but the timeline and pacing is just weird to me

Page 73: main character Cassie (black woman) has to explain to other main character Reid (cis white man) why she has to fight for her jobs while they just get handed to him. Competitors in the business becoming friends while she has to do the emotional labor of explaining the patriarchy to him? Yuck
