So.... I *thought* that reading a nice French novel about grief would be helpful during this trying time in my life..... It is not. This is gorgeous, I adore it, but it's just not the time.

So far, this book is beautiful and painful and the best writing I've read in AGES.

OMG, I am having so much fun! I am loving this so far.

Is.... Is this.... Is this book..... really bad? I am not getting the hype AT ALL.

At what point do I actually begin to enjoy this book? I am not getting the hype at all.

I just finished Book II: Flight, and if the last third of this book is as good as the rest of it, this will be the best novel I have ever read.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this. It feels like a multi-course meal; leisurely building up until you get to the amazing main course. At least, I hope it'll be amazing.

This week has been so truly awful shitty at work that I've been too exhausted to read when I get home. This pisses me off more than my actual shit job. BLARGH!!!!

Something doesn't feel right. It shouldn't take me this long to read a book this short. Red. Flag.

Oh, fantasy literature, why do you have to take so long to get going? *sigh*

I'm not 100% clear on what the ball Margarita presides over as Queen Margot represents, but I wish I could've gone. Satan always seems to throw the best parties.

I am reminded of a famous quote: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing us he wasn't Bill Belichek." Think about it.

It is taking me so long to read this book; longer than it really should. I shouldn't have decided to read this at this time because of some very personal reasons. Its a phenomenal book, what will ultimately turn out to be my personal favorite of the "Great American Novels." Still, its a difficult thing to tackle when those you love and the situation they are in are reflected in the story.

Okay, before you say anything, this book was a silly stocking stuffer from my brother. My family & I are huge trekkers, but I've never read any of the novels; they aren't cannon. I had no intention of publicly admitting that I was actually reading it, but, at least this far in, this is actually pretty good. I'm genuinely surprised.

Uh, literary tip from me to you: if you're ever feeling depressed, don't pick the 30th anniversary edition of this book you got from your Grandma after she died. This book is emotional enough without you bringing your garbage into it.

Ugh. I am just so ridiculously on the fence about this book. This book is so well written, in fact, it feels overwritten. A big part of me wants to stop, but the stubborn book nerd in me just keeps going. I don't hate it, but I also don't like it. Its very frustrating.

I'm glad I powered through the first 100 pages of this. Still, this is not light reading to say the least.

I have barely started this thing and I am getting my ass handed to me. Lots of words I don't know and a very intelligent and eloquent use of language that I'm having a hard time getting used to. This is gonna be tough.

I love this man. I truly do. I have never met him, will never meet him, but I love him. He makes me feel, which, as I age, becomes harder and harder for me to do. Sensual and honest, I already love this book.

It was only when I came across the word 'tires' spelled 'tyres' did I finally flip the book over & figure out what was bothering me about this book. The price on the back was listed in british pounds, not US/CAN dollars, but somehow wound up at a Half Price Books in Madison, WI. I know that it shouldn't bother me when I come across words like 'colour' or 'foetus' or 'mum' or 'lorrie,' but it does.
