so imma say in the first half of this book i was really into it, the imperfect protagonist with deep rooted beliefs that drive him forward to cunningly manipulate his way to win prize money that will help his family save face in wake of their penniless status and becomes marginally attracted, more so fixated on the girl he “owns”… now he’s in the districts, annoying, and pathetic mistaking fixation for love

the beginning of this was painful… excruciatingly painful bc it SCREAMS fan fiction.. the amount of notes i was adding in critique was insane and going into it blind i had no idea it was a hunger games au so that took some time to get my head wrapped around it but its so popular on tiktok so im continuing out of pure stubbornness and curiosity.. so far its getting better but damn the beginning was awful

this fandom is allergic to happiness and evidently so am i because here i am reading another fic that will inevitably leave me with my heart shattered and HEY if im reading fics thousands of pages long damn right imma log it here traditionally published or not
