Well, so far very uncomfortable reading as the writer seems obsessed with wombs and vaginas and encompasses a very narrow vision of womanhood. Going to keep reading to see what I can take away from it

Having trouble getting into this - might need to put it aside and come back later.

I'm loving how much this book is giving me to think about. It's so interesting.

I *am* intrigued by this plan to bring about world peace through putting effeminate gay men in positions of power, but I'm still finding this book a little depressing.

I was told this book was supposed to be funny but I'm finding it a little depressing in that it makes life feel fairly futile. I know some guys like Reilly.

I'm really enjoying having a female protagonist in a high position within an organisation and not being afraid of that responsibility, but on the flip side I can't help but feel the organisation should be taking a much greater interest in a sudden and complete change in the personality of someone with so much personal and bureaucratic power.

I'm wondering whether she's hasn't caused a number of her own problems. But it's still ludicrously early so I guess we'll see.

There is no-one this man can't find fault with. One man is too henpecked, another doesn't care if other men leer at his wife. A third doesn't even bring his wife to events. Everything aimed to show how the Major is the only one who knows what's exactly right.

Still struggling with how awful I find the Major. Everything he sees is a symbol of society's downfall. But I'm soldiering on hoping that's actually the point.

I really, really wanted to enjoy this book but so far I just don't connect with it. The main character is incredibly judgmental, and the supporting cast are very 2 dimensional. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Seriously, it just keeps getting better. Everything that I've been thinking "Well, THAT'S ridiculous" she's already thought of and it's part of the plot.

I was a bit ambivalent about this book in the first few chapters, but it suddenly got really interesting!

This is so tense - I've never wanted someone in a book to survive more.
