There is no-one this man can't find fault with. One man is too henpecked, another doesn't care if other men leer at his wife. A third doesn't even bring his wife to events. Everything aimed to show how the Major is the only one who knows what's exactly right.

Still struggling with how awful I find the Major. Everything he sees is a symbol of society's downfall. But I'm soldiering on hoping that's actually the point.

I really, really wanted to enjoy this book but so far I just don't connect with it. The main character is incredibly judgmental, and the supporting cast are very 2 dimensional. I guess we'll see how it goes.
