Only complaint with this book is a confusing timeline. She seems to jump around a bit. Otherwise, this has been really strong and I really enjoy the Lady Bird perspective, with all its flaws, on the 1960s.

Really enjoying this so far. Sweig does a really good job of centering Lady Bird’s actions in context. She’s especially good once she moves past material already covered by historian Robert Caro. This is a great book to get that history from Lady Bird’s perspective before getting what will likely be a more granular look in Caro’s last volume. Overall I’m pleased as punch. Wonderful Christmas break reading.

I think I might end up not being a huge Steinbeck stan.

Just some light patriotic reading. From Abbie Hoffman and myself, happy Fourth of July.

I need to slow down and really read the details. Le Guin paints a beautiful scene; I fear I’m reading too fast sometimes to picture it.

This has started to feel like classic literature now, in that I’m not sure what it’s doing with itself and I find it increasingly difficult to pick up. The prose is still lovely. The vibes are just a bit off.

This is insanely good. I’ve read a lot of material on this topic, and this is some of the best by far.

I don’t know what page I’m on because I’m reading this in Hoopla, but I gotta say, never thought I’d be emotionally invested in the life cycle of the musk ox. I’m here for it though!

You know why we read this sort of book? Because books like these tell you how things work. I never knew how the senate worked until the previous volume of this series. You wanna know? You gotta read.

I pick up Hornby every couple of weeks and read a couple of his pieces. I don’t do it to get book recommendations; instead, it reminds me what I like about reading and how it’s okay to like things decidedly from my own perspective and for my own reasons. Reading is entirely personal with this guy; a book may be bad simply because he felt bad the day he started reading it. Isn’t that how life works?

Bit less hopeful than it thinks it is, really ought to focus more on the practical solutions by region, thus far kinda coming across as a single-idea book. But hey, nice pictures, and it’s good enough to keep reading for fun. Plus, I’m sold on its singular idea, and it’s prompting me to do my own homework, so maybe it’s doing exactly what it intends.
