Still no monster?! Oh, I know more than I will ever need to know about how to drain a water pit and decipher a cryptogram, but still no monster!! This thing better be worth the wait. I'm talking terrifying and vicious.

There is some great maritime world building in this book, and it's all wasted on me because I just want to get to the parts where the monster starts killing people. Don't really care what the port looks like, get to the scary stuff alread.

This is a fun read, but I'm getting a little tired of the author's descriptions of non white characters. Not loving that the person working baggage claim was just "an NBA sized black guy" or the concierge was simply a "large black woman" when the stewardess was a "sturdy, blond woman in her fifties" with a Southern accent. The Stewardess got to be a person not just a color...

So far this book reminds me of a really good Lifetime original movie, and coming from me, that is a very high compliment. It's almost therapeutic how easy and fun it is to read this.

Why do authors insist on using current pop culture references? Sure the "iPhone" reference still holds up, but the "High School Musical" one dated this book immediately. Oh well, guess I'll just imagine it's 2010.

UPDATE: It definitely meant I wasn't supposed to get attached to anyone yet. All the Steves are dead. Repeat, "All the Steves are dead"!

I'm having a hard time remembering who anyone is so far. Is that normal?
Does that mean I shouldn't get attached to anyone?! Why does it feel like at least 3 different characters have the name Steve?!?!

Was getting bored with all the blah, blah, blah about fighter jets and ships and how they work, but the flying saucer just showed up to rescue me.

*notices there's a character in this book named Krys.*

I have all 3 books in this series and haven't read in a looong time. Here's hoping this is a really good book.

This book is a work of art! The amount of detail that they put into this is blowing my mind, and I am impressed.

This chick has spent the entire book obsessing over a guy who acts like he doesn't want her, and now she is using another guy to try forget about the first guy.

I'm so sick of this kind of MC.

This is such a strange and interesting little book. I may even go so far as to so it is original and refreshing.

The girl he likes just hugged him so of course he had to get shot 2 minutes later because no on gets to be happy in this book.

I usually like action packed books, but this is too much. They never get a minute to breath before something tries to kill them, they keep bickering with each other, and stuff keeps blowing up for no good reason.

This man was music personified, and there are no words for how much he will be missed.
