“I am no fan of “states’ rights.” I’m allergic to the concept. Every time I hear the phrase, I imagine William Tecumseh Sherman striding through a battlefield strewn with dead Confederates saying, “States’ wrong, bitches.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about resistance and appeasement, how we judge each other after the true evil ends and we’re left with how to move on.
