I remember liking this series, but this installment seems more amatuerish than before. The protagonist definitely comes off more as a bit of a jackass to every day folk than before, and he wasn't exactly friendly to start. There's also been quite a few easily spotted typos and grammar errors. Depending on how this book ends, might be dropping it.

The writing is truly not good. It's been especially obvious in comparison to the physical books I've been reading at work.
The storytelling isn't terrible, but the word choices and sentence structure can be awful.

Just finished chapter 9, and I think the writing might be getting worse.
Kerr seems to be reaching for an anime action poetic flare, but mostly just ends up using words incorrectly, causing confusion if you actually focus on what's literally written. If you just let the sentence sit in the mishmash of nouns and adjectives you can get what they're going for, but it's very immersion breaking and halting.

Really not holding my attention. I've read two other books during this.
