I'm a bit frustrated with this book but in truth it's not that bad, it's just me wishing I could go back to Brothers Karamazov except I can't cuz if I don't read this now I won't be able to do it in the future

In typical Dostoevsky fashion, 25% down and the murder hasn't taken place, but it's no big deal since they have some pretty interesting conversations from the start

I've had this book on my tbr for years and now that I lost interest I want to get rid of it in order to make room for new books, so I'll give it a shot first. Let's see how it goes

I don't dislike it, but I feel like this is the book where Rooney's prose feels the densest, which isn't helped by the fact that this one's also her longest book so far. I'll prolly take a short break soon

So rape scene down, I agree I don't really see the point in having it. Not only do I think the idea that your partner raping you bc it's the best for you both is a dangerous one, I also struggle to believe no one here could do in vitro fertilization with all their vivimancy and stuff. That would lead us to forced pregnancy, but arguably that's a much more unusual scenario

A friend gave me the book for my birthday and I must admit I'm a bit curious (and a bit scared, ngl) so let's see how this goes

At this point I just want to get this over with so that I can give it one star at peace

How come I didn't read this any sooner? It is wild, romantic, toxic and gothic, so far I'm absolutely adoring it!!

So far so good! I love that the FMC is not a badass bitch but rather just a girly girl that doesn't feel useless, I missed those a lot
