“Good,” she said. “I don’t actually know what swashbuckling is, but we look like we might be about to do it.”

Yes, I am shamefully behind on my Goodreads goal this year and am now shamelessly reading through a backlog of graphic novels that I own but lost track of on a bookshelf in my house.

SPEEDRUN!!!

“It would have been a glorious thing, Anya thought, to take shelter behind the magnificence of a dragon. But she must be her own dragon now.”

“ . . . it is a human right to do something utterly reckless and irreversible in the service of love.”

“But keep the fight outside your body, not inside it. I can see you vibrating with rage from halfway across a room, girl. Do not let men who are not fit to touch the corner of your shoe decide how you feel about being alive. That way lies misery and broken bones.”

This series should be more popular.

I get that this is romantasy, but is it also a murder mystery? And how is the main character not completely traumatized by being orphaned at a young age, raised by some rando to be an assassin, and then sent to prison? And now everything is cool at this weird royal competition? What is even happening here?!

This is excellent so far.

Apparently I read this 9 years ago when I was on maternity leave and I have absolutely no recollection of the plot or anything. I’m halfway through on my second read and nothing is coming back to me. Sleep deprivation and postpartum anxiety are a helluva drug!

Is this an epic fantasy or just smut? Up until 75% of the way through, I thought it was epic fantasy. Now I feel like I’m just in it for the sex scenes. 🤷‍♀️

This series is always so fun.

Oh I do not like this one. What a struggle to get through. Just tell the damn story, sir!

T. Kingfisher is so good. 😍

Reading the books now that the show is over!

“ . . . she occupied all the space she deserved.”

Love this description.

I’m not finding this one as engaging as the first one in the series.
