I can’t say I remember adding this to my TBR, but it’s a fun read. It popped up in my Libby holds today. Realistic? Goodness no. But entertaining! Vibes are similar to the Finlay Donovan series.

I was confused for the first several pages, but after that, I’ve been able to orient myself in the story. I love Scalzi’s writing and character development.

The way the virus is described is wild. The way it impacts a fetus sounds very much like CMV (cytomegalovirus).

This title doesn’t seem to fit the story being told, but I’m intrigued by the story. It’s a lot like if you took the worldbuilding from the book The Measure by Nikki Erlick and followed a group of people who met at a dinner party.

CWs: infertility, adoption, suicide

This was recommended for readers who liked Miss Winter in the Library with a Knife, so Ok! Thanks to being readily available, it skipped the TBR list.

I’ve read book 2 already. Time to read book 1!

Definitely not a cozy. It’s like AA for former assassins. This installment works as a standalone, but the reader would miss out on a lot. The action scenes are mostly presented as memories in this one.

I’ve barely started this and am loving it. Guests are invited to play a murder mystery game - but the reader also can play along to figure it out. Apparently there are 40+ clues along the way!

Other than the main character working at the same company as the MC in book 1, it’s very different from that first installment. In this one, it’s a little like Final Destination, but they keep dodging death. I’m sticking with it but losing interest.

I really like the themes this author explores and her take on speculative fiction. It’s not hard to keep the different characters’ points of view separate. They’re distinct and fully formed characters. It feels like the story could be tighter, but it’s enjoyable.

This is a cozy mystery recommended on my local library’s Libby app. I just wasn’t feeling my other current reads.

The juxtaposition of the weeks-to-months-long lapses in communication and the steamy spice is annoying me.

This is the 4th book in a cozy murder mystery series that’s well-paced and features a friendly dog named Mouse.

I thought our MC was an underdog who’s just not in the in crowd, but really she’s very deeply unlikable. I’m taking a break from her drama.

Something would have to go really sideways for this to be anything but 5 stars for me. I love these characters and their humor.

The length of this book is daunting, but I’m enjoying it so much.

I can see why “readers also enjoyed” lists Dungeon Crawler Carl. The plot isn’t similar at all, but something about the vibe or the snarkiness of the narrator is.

Described as a queer Knives Out.
