About 25 pages in, and here's my hypothesis: Piranesi is under house arrest /suffering from a mental health condition, and all the 'magic' is his own imagination.

About 40% through the book, and I am not enjoying it at all. Pity, I thought I'd love it. Instead, the LoTR rip-off and basic character and world-building is really getting to me.

Somebody explain to me what the plot of this book is, because I still have no idea.

They're overthinking to the point of uselessness, and I'm reading it and just getting increasingly annoyed.

So far, I'm not as curious about the Alexandrian Society as I should be, and I feel like each character can be assigned a role they're sticking to. Libby is the good girl (with the innocent name), Nico is the charmer, Parisa is the mean girl, Reina is the loner, Callum is the asshole, and Tristan is the 'mysterious' one. Let's see if this continues.

Enjoying the pace, not enjoying the jumping between POVs, not enjoying the descriptions

This book is colour blind and terrible but I have to finish it for challenges, so I'm muddling through. Never again though.

It's marginally improving, but still not enough to be actually absorbing.

Not gonna lie, I'm having a terrible time reading this. The language is condescending and infuriating in its modernism, the characters lack depth, and the mythological aspects seem more as occasional interludes rather than part of the actual plot. Really hoping this gets better, because it's a 1 star at the moment.

Plot is alright, but the author seems to continue telling instead of showing, and that's making the story flat. Also, the lack of any sense of timeline is really, really annoying me because this book is so spread out.

Going through part 2, and right now Ciro seems flat and two-dimensional. The things that are repeatedly told to us is that he likes girls, he's strong, and he wants to go back home. But I'm told this, not shown this, so...

This is an enchanting book. Granted, I'm not sure how accurate the language is to the time, but it's beautiful to read nonetheless. It fills the mind with wonder and awe.

Currently in a very weird headspace where I'm confused and intrigued all at once.

I'm loving the way that Shannon has incorporated explanations about the world she's built. It comes across as so natural. The book otherwise is very clearly an introduction to the world; nothing major has happened so far.

Part Two just started. Part One was good but a little confusing, though I think it will clear up, so looking forward to it.

This is getting really, really painful.

The obsession with other's secrets is really starting to get at me. And the hypocrisy is truly extraordinary.

I'm 25% in, and I've already guessed the big twist, and got bored enough to go and read the spoilers, so I know I'm right. Let's see how the author pulls it off.
