I've been wanting to read this for awhile, but beginning it just after learning about the "online rape academy" is really tough. I cried when I learned about all those women being drugged and assaulted by their husbands in real life; to read about films in which that *exact* scenario occurs---like "Rosemary's Baby"---is more horrific than I can put into words.

This reminds me so much of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart"

After reading the description of Gideon's physique, I wish she was more muscular in the illustration on the cover. Those are not two-handed sword-wielding arms.

It's almost regrettable that it's a romance, considering that all the parts that make me want to DNF it are the "romantic" bits.

Those stone walls, Celene thought, likely dated back to when the elves first built Halamshiral. She wondered if they ever imagined that one day, those walls would protect human nobility from the elves who burned on the other side.

Reading this now feels like looking into the future.
