I had to get ahold of this one as quickly as possible after finishing The Housemaid.

Christian keeps saying that Stella is his obsession, but why? Did I miss something?

So far "Hild" is not generous to its readers. For me, it's slow going because I'm continually flipping to the back of the book to look at the glossary and the pronunciation for the names of the many characters.

I'm not ready to give up, but this is a book that requires a lot. The author has clearly done her research. Unfortunately she doesn't pass on her knowledge accessibly.

So far I love this book. From the first page I've been entirely absorbed in the world and I'm glad the book is so long because I don't want to leave it.
