I planned to take a breath in between but the library waitlist said “now or never!!!!” I’ve had this in my possession for a week already, so now I have to go into speed read mode.

There are little nuggets of wisdom here, but the author’s takeaways from her findings are honestly kind of a bummer. Really questioning her overall motivation when it comes to parenting.

I hope this means Vis is going to make more friends. His POV is so dry… I’m ready for a wider cast of characters !

I thought I would get used to it, but the name “Ulciscor” still does not work in my head.

This is a touch preachy compared to other parenting books I’ve read, which is a little off-putting to me. The “suggestions” are more like commands. I prefer a “take it or leave it” tone considering all children/families are different and have unique needs.

I love this book. The setting is perfect for this very wintry weekend. My only complaint is that I am invested in each member of the Ballard family, but there are too many of them to get an in depth look at each. I already know I’ll be sad when I finish this.

There are so many great elements to this book. So why am I so BORED? I have to return this to the library tomorrow, it’s looking like a DNF 🥲

Thanking the universe for my silly little Christmas romance audiobook as it is actually the perfect antidote to the heavy material in this book.

The epigraph is a Louise Erdrich quote. I now have sky high expectations for this book.
